Coming out of Two Closets ⋆ Alchemystic Life

Hi, I’m Anissa and I love you. Is that a weird way to introduce myself? Well, I figure I should start off letting my weird light shine. However, it’s true – I DO love you. Right where you are, exactly as you are.

I also know a few things about you. You’ve probably spent most of your life trying to fit in to the status quo. Your body, mind, and emotions sometimes go off in different directions and cause you to feel lost or overwhelmed. You’re not sure who you are and what your purpose is, but even if you happen to know, you’re not living it fully. Does any of that ring a bell inside?

Yeah, I know. I’ve been there. It’s a journey, but I’ve taken it on with absolute passion, commitment and an adventure-spirit and i’m here to help you do the same.

I always thought I needed to “fit in” to gain acceptance and ultimately, love. Until I discovered that I AM love. That changed everything.

I want to share a little piece of my life so that you can get a better understanding of what I mean:

“Dear Dad,

How are things? Pretty good here. I have a couple of things to tell you:

1. I’m not a Christian anymore.

2. I’m gay.

Yes, I did (cringe). I came out to my dad, on Father’s Day mind you, about not just one, but two major life alterations. Dad was a preacher for many years, so both of these revelations were understandably devastating for him.

It was super scary, but I came out of two closets at once and took a huge step into loving myself.

I was waking up to my true essence. As I worked for years to clear out the debris of life – conditioned patterns of closing off when something hurts, taking on other people’s energy, religious rules and regulations– I started to see light emerging from within.

The light was my Truth. The light was Love for myself. The light was being able to see myself, and others, without judgment. Religious context stopped having any meaning for me and I flowed into the Universe’s stream of unconditional love for myself just as I AM…

(postscript: My Dad and I have completely healed and now have a beautiful, supportive relationship. Yay!)

So, whatever your story. Whatever your pain. Whatever is blocking you up. There is a true light of YOU inside. You deserve to let your light shine bright into the world. We need you.
